Indians celebrate Republic Day in the Ugandan capital Kampala

As Indian missions worldwide geared up to celebrate 'Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' to commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements, the Republic Day celebrations at the Indian High Commission of Kampala had a defining touch to it.

Besides the regular unfurling of the national flag, there were various contests, and the NRIs in Uganda were invited to participate in contests like online painting and quiz competitions.

The display of Rangoli colors was mesmerizing, and prizes were distributed to the delighted winners by High Commissioner A. Ajay Kumar.

According to the 2019 census, there has been a magnificent rise in the number of Ugandans residing in India.

Uganda, in turn, boasts of around 20,000 Indians living there.

The Indians there have a substantial role in the functioning of the Ugandan economy, given their skills and expertise.
