Sri Lankan parliamentary delegation strengthens ties with India

A prominent Sri Lankan parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena visited India last week.

Comprising Minister of Environment Keheliya Rambukwella, nine Members of Parliament representing diverse political parties, and Sri Lankan parliamentary officials, this visit held special significance as the first 'Foreign Parliamentary Delegation' to India since the inauguration of the new Parliament building in New Delhi.

During their stay, the delegation met with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla.

The delegation also met with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar.
